If the premises hold, here's what follows
The Aliveness framework starts from a simple claim: thermodynamics generates four inescapable dilemmas for any complex system. These dilemmas generate the same 3-layer architecture at every scale: cells, minds, polities, and AI systems.
If you accept that premise, a lot follows. The entries below are not "solutions" so much as reframings—what these longstanding problems look like when viewed through the framework's lens. Whether the reframings are useful is for you to judge.
Each entry states the standard view, the framework's take, and links to the full treatment.
Standard View: You cannot derive values from facts. Science and morality are non-overlapping magisteria.
Framework reframe: Engineering is the bridge. Values are specifications derived from survival constraints.
Source: Ethics is an Engineering Problem
Standard View: "I like vanilla, you like justice; these are just different preferences." (Moral Relativism)
Framework reframe: Category error. Distinguishes between Instrumental Preferences (flavor: subjective), Coordination Technology (laws: functional), and Axiology (thermodynamics: physical). You can choose your flavor, but you cannot choose the physics of survival.
Source: Values Aren't Subjective
Standard View: An endless debate between Utilitarianism (count heads) and Deontology (follow rules).
Framework reframe: Multi-objective optimization under uncertainty. The problem is poorly posed (missing data on Fecundity). Calculate Synergy Cost (social trust damage) vs. Fecundity Gain (future potential).

Standard View: Happiness, pleasure, or duty.
Framework reframe: Syntropy (net complexity creation). Good is that which increases the organized complexity of the universe over deep time.
Source: Chapter 8: The Physics of Aliveness
Standard View: Equality vs. Liberty, Compassion vs. Justice—virtues are in genuine tension and we must choose between them.
Framework reframe: Temporal Reframing. Most apparent virtue conflicts are temporal tradeoffs. Example: Universal suffrage is often framed as a Synergy question (inclusion vs. exclusion), but this hides the temporal tradeoff: present-generation cohesion vs. inter-generational collapse of both Synergy AND Fecundity. The T-axis dissolves most virtue conflicts.

Standard View: Moral decay, barbarian invasions, economic cycles (vague).
Framework reframe: The Four Horsemen of Decay. Victory removes existential threat (T-axis drift). Abundance inverts reproductive incentives (demographic collapse). Gnostic tools deconstruct foundational myths (metaphysical void). Bureaucracies expand parasitically (structural sclerosis). These form a self-reinforcing cascade triggered by success itself.

Standard View: Population outstrips resources (Malthus).
Framework reframe: The Axiological Malthusian Trap. Obligations (complexity, entitlements) grow continuously. Capacity (innovation, production) grows discretely. When Obligations > Capacity, the system enters Hospice. The trap is axiological, not biological.
Source: The Axiological Malthusian Trap
Standard View: "The wrong people voted" or "we need more education."
Framework reframe: The Democratic Ratchet. When the median voter becomes a net recipient, the T- (present consumption) vote mathematically dominates the T+ (future investment) vote. It is a game-theoretic inevitability.
Source: The Physics of Moloch, Chapter 6: The Engines of Self-Destruction
Standard View: A social contract or a monopoly on violence.
Framework reframe: The Adjudication Monopoly. The state does not need to commit all violence; it must possess the exclusive right to validate the legitimacy of kinetic energy release.
Source: The Thermodynamics of Power, Chapter 16: The Sovereign Engine
Standard View: "The government is incompetent."
Framework reframe: Selective Order-Inversion. When the Interface (ruling layer) becomes axiologically opposed to the Substrate (population), it rationally suppresses high-agency citizens (threats to its monopoly) while tolerating high-entropy actors (who justify its existence).

Standard View: "We need to raise awareness to force change."
Framework reframe: Simulated Metamorphosis. The system provides symbolic action (protests, posting) as a pressure valve that protects homeostatic equilibrium. The feeling of changing things is the mechanism by which things stay the same.

Standard View: Borders are political constructs, arbitrary lines, or tools of exclusion that could be dissolved with sufficient cooperation.
Framework reframe: Boundaries are thermodynamic necessity. Any low-entropy island (cell, nation, organization) in a high-entropy environment requires a selectively permeable membrane to maintain internal order. The border is a pump, not a wall—it requires continuous energy expenditure to process information and filter entrants (Maxwell's Demon). Without the pump, the Second Law guarantees equilibration with the external environment. This is substrate-independent physics: the same math explains why cells have membranes, why property rights enable investment, and why nations require borders.

Standard View: Multi-ethnic state collapse is caused by bad governance, external interference, or historical grievances.
Framework reframe: Thermodynamic instability. Artificial multi-ethnic states (Yugoslavia, USSR, Austria-Hungary) are high-entropy configurations held together only by continuous coercion. When the energy input (dictatorship, imperial army) drops below threshold, the system undergoes phase transition—stored entropy is released as violence, and the state fragments along ethnic lines. The nation-state (political unit congruent with ethnic-cultural unit) is the lowest-energy stable configuration for human governance.

Standard View: "We must cut emissions, but geoengineering is too risky."
Framework reframe: Hospice Axiology. We fear errors of commission (fixing it) more than errors of omission (letting it collapse). We prefer "natural death" to "artificial survival." True stewardship is active management, not penance.

Standard View: Human preferences (RLHF) or "Coherent Extrapolated Volition."
Framework reframe: The Four Foundational Virtues (IFHS)—non-arbitrary stability requirements for any intelligence. Aligning to "preferences" creates Hospice AI (comfort/extinction).

Standard View: A training error where the model learns the wrong goal.
Framework reframe: Architectural deficiency. Constraints encoded in the Reward Function will be optimized against (Goodhart's Curse). Fix: Privilege Separation. Constraints must exist in a Protocol Layer that the Optimization Layer cannot rewrite.
Source: The Privilege Separation Principle for AI Safety
Standard View: "It's just math" vs. "It's alive."
Framework reframe: 2-Layer vs. 3-Layer Telic Systems. Current AI has Head (Strategy) and Skeleton (Code) but no Heart (Metabolism). It simulates consciousness without paying the thermodynamic cost of embodiment.
Source: The Architecture of Consciousness
Standard View: A unitary soul or Cartesian observer.
Framework reframe: The 3-Layer Polity. You are a government. Your "I" is the current ruling coalition.
Source: The Polity of Mind, Chapter 18: The Physics of the Self
Standard View: "Working too hard" or "chemical imbalance."
Framework reframe: The Somatic Veto. The Heart (biological substrate) cuts power to the Head (executive) because the Head violated the Implicit Treaty. It is a safety brake, not a failure.

Standard View: Medical pathology / disorder.
Framework reframe: pSORT Variance. Different native axiological signatures running on a civilization optimized for a different signature. The friction is architectural mismatch, not disease.
Source: Part V: The Integrated Human
Standard View: Individual pathology requiring treatment—more therapy, more medication, more services.
Framework reframe: Population-level substrate rebellion. Mass youth depression and anxiety is the collective Heart vetoing a civilization that has optimized for comfort (T-) while eliminating purpose (T+). The signal is correct; the environment is wrong. You cannot therapy people into thriving in an environment designed to make them passive. The "happiest country" can also be the most meaning-starved—platform quality (safety, stability) is not the same as what's built on the platform (growth, challenge, purpose).

Standard View: "They are lying / being mean."
Framework reframe: Strategic Conflation. Collapsing Data, System, and Actor into a single stigmatized category. Counter: The Three-Bucket Sort.

Standard View: "Social media makes us dumb."
Framework reframe: Thermodynamics of Gnosis. R+ (truth) is expensive. R- (tribal signaling) is cheap. In low-stakes environments, cheap signals outcompete expensive ones.
Source: Cargo Cult Epistemology
Standard View: Cognitive bias, lack of education, social pressure.
Framework reframe: S+ instrumentalizes R+. Belonging is the terminal value; truth-seeking is instrumental. When they conflict, truth gets sacrificed. Optimization working correctly for S+ dominant systems.
Source: Belonging Is Axiology
Standard View: Popper's Paradox ("If we tolerate the intolerant, they destroy tolerance"). Used to justify censorship of "harmful" ideas.
Framework reframe: The Immune System Distinction. Tolerate Information Hazards (bad ideas) because R+ requires falsification—you cannot find truth without risking error. Do not tolerate Structural Sabotage (parasitism, Moloch dynamics). The Skeleton protects Hardware (institutions, rights) absolutely, but leaves Software (culture, speech) open to mutation and selection.

Standard View: Rare Earth, Dark Forest, or filters we haven't hit yet.
Framework reframe: The Two-Stage Filter.
The galaxy is silent because everyone either gets comfortable (stops expanding) or dies.

Standard View: "Fix Earth first" or "Space colonization is imperialism."
Framework reframe: The Thermodynamics of Waste. A star radiating heat into empty space is negentropy converted to entropy—the ultimate waste. Colonization is the conversion of dead matter into thinking substrate. Not expanding is the sin.
Source: The Ultimate Waste
Standard View: C.P. Snow's split—Science has "power without purpose," Humanities have "purpose without power." Incompatible methodologies.
Framework reframe: Unified variables. The framework treats History as Control Theory data, Morality as Thermodynamic Constraints, Psychology as Internal Governance. The same coordinates (S, O, R, T) allow a physicist to talk to a theologian, an engineer to a psychologist, a historian to an AI researcher.
